Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer Emei is taking the next step in her musical journey with the launch of her newest musical project, her 7-track debut EP “Scatterbrain.” Displaying vibrant and catchy beats, mixed with her extremely graphic and relatable songwriting, the EP rounds up a year of important career milestones for the rising artist. On the opening track, “711,” Emei looks at her personal journey of learning to deal with hard emotions such as social anxiety and “being constantly worried about giving off a bad impression.”

“I feel like we’re all under the pressure of trying to be this person that other people want us to be and saying things that they want to hear (always being ready with the regular acceptable ‘party stories’). 711 (the convenience store) is often a safe haven for me and my friends after a bad night out where we can get our favourite snacks and unload,” she shares. In her words, the sonics of the song are inspired by the hectic feeling of a night out and the pounding in your head from being so worried about what other people think.
